Tax Bills To Be Mailed Monday, October 22

Conway residents’ tax bills are scheduled to be mailed Monday, October 22, and will be due 30 days after issue. Please note that the period between the date sent out and when they are due is the only time during the year in which one can apply for abatement.

Early Voting in Conway, MA

Registered voters in the Town of Conway may participate in Early Voting at the Clerk’s Office in the Town Office Building, 32 Main Street, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on the following dates: Tue, 23 Oct; Thurs, 25 Oct; Fri, 26 Oct; Tue, 30 Oct; Thurs, 01 Nov; and Fri, 02 Nov.

For public convenience, the Town of Conway will also provide for additional early voting hours by including three weekend hours on Saturday, 27 Oct at the Town Hall, 5 Academy Hill, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

Voter Registration

Voter registration will be held Wednesday, October 17 from noon to 8:00 p.m. in the Town Office Building, 32 Main Street. Absentee ballots are available until noon on November 5. Highway Facility Committee meeting dates

The Highway Facility Committee (formerly known as the Highway Garage Committee) will be meeting  November 6;  Dec. 4; January 15; February 12; and March 12 (all Tuesdays). The November 6 meeting starts with a site visit to the current Highway Garage at 6 p.m., and is followed by a meeting in the General Purpose Room of the Town Hall. Conservation Commission Needs Members!

The unexpected departure of the Conservation Commission’s long-time chair has resulted in an urgent need for a new member. The five-member Commission administers conservation restrictions on behalf of the Town and makes formal determinations for land/homeowners as to whether the requirements of either the Wetlands Protection Act or the Rivers Act apply to projects by interpreting state regulations. Conway residents who are interested in serving should contact the Town Administrator, Tom Hutcheson, at the Town Office, 413-369-4235 x3.

Walk Franklin County Maps, Walking Challenge Announced

Walk Franklin County maps, which highlight scenic walking routes in each Franklin County town, have been updated by the FRCOG. Maps are available as paper maps and also in digital form on the FRCOG website. Go to https://frcog.org/publication/walk-franklin-county-maps/ to view digital versions of Franklin County towns’ maps, including Conway’s. To celebrate the new maps FRCOG is sponsoring a walking challenge event; grab a map, take a walk and tell them about it! Great prizes will be raffled off to participants who tell the FRCOG about their walk, either by a post to their Facebook page, or by tweet to them at #walkfranklincounty. Conway Flu Clinics Offered on Oct. 5, Nov. 7

Public health officials remind us that everyone six months of age or older needs a flu vaccine. When we all are vaccinated, we build community immunity that protects the elderly, children, and those with compromised immune systems from the terrible effects of influenza. Conway residents  are invited to attend two community flu clinics. The first is on Friday, October 5 from 9 to 11 AM at Town Hall, 5 Academy Hill Road, Conway. The second is on Wednesday, November 7 from 3:15 to 5 PM at the Conway Grammar School, 40 Fournier Road, Conway.  Most insurances accepted, no copay needed.

 

Conway Seeking PT Administrative Assistant

The Town of Conway is seeking an Administrative Assistant, reporting to the Town Administrator and serving the Conservation Commission, Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals, with further work possible. The position averages 5 hours per week. Successful candidate will have good written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with other municipal employees and the general public, and demonstrated clerical skills, including familiarity with computers and Office programs. Successful applicant will be able to take minutes and perform bill tracking and record keeping. Compensation rate is $16/hr.
