Public Notice – Proposed Work on Delabarre Ave. – Opportunity to Comment

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) hereby provides initial notice of its decision to provide Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program funding for an action located adjacent to a floodplain and wetland. Funding would be provided through the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to the town of Conway for the Delabarre Avenue erosion repair project. A map of the project area is available upon request by email to or by phone at (202) 657-9576.

The proposed action is located on Delabarre Avenue in Conway, MA 01341. The project involves reconstructing the Delabarre Avenue road drainage system and stabilizing some areas of the riverbank slope between the roadway and the South River. Work includes reconstructing the existing roadway drainage system. Restoring approximately 150 linear feet of storm-damaged portions of the slope, installing permanent riprap with a drainage pip outfall “downchute” where emergency riprap was previously placed, and reconstructing approximately 450 linear feet of roadway.

The project is adjacent to a mapped riverine wetland and a portion of the slope stabilization will occur within a mapped special flood hazard area (100-year floodplain).

Comments about this project and it’s impacts to the floodplain and wetland are encouraged to be submitted within 15 days of the date of this publication. Submit to:
